Remembering Mike
It is with sad hearts that the
Florida Antique Bucket Brigade (FABB) announces the passing of
Mike Morris, Sr. Mr. Morris was our founding father and first
president to serve FABB. Born August 9, 1929 and passed on
January 18, 2021. Mike had been residing in an assisted living
facility in Clermont, where he passed away peacefully.
Mike served with the Tampa Fire
Rescue, in Tampa, Florida, from 1952 through 1979. He attained
the rank of Captain serving at several fire stations, he also
served as a Captain of their Marine unit. Mike was very
active in the Shriners Hospital in Tampa and also was an Egypt
Shriner of Tampa, and a 32nd Degree Scottish Rite Mason.
He also was instrumental in helping to establish the Tampa Fire
Museum and served on Tampa's Canteen truck. He also served his
country in the Navy and Coast Guard. Mike was also a member of
SPAAMFAA.
Mike drove and served on Engine 4,
a 1925 Seagrave pumper, while employed at Tampa FR. He was able
to purchase and restore that rig, on which he will be carried to
his grave site while being driven by his son, John Morris. His
was very proud of his rig and it is featured on the Challenge
Coin, which FABB is selling for the 2022 National Convention,
being held in Kissimmee, in February of 2022.

memory they can contact anyone of the following:

The Organization
The Florida Antique Bucket Brigade or
FABB as we call it, is a statewide group of firefighting Apparatus,
tradition and history enthusiasts who love to get together and talk
fire apparatus. Not only do we talk but many members own their own
fire apparatus spanning in era from the early hand drawn days to
fire apparatus that could still serve a small fire department today
. We restore these items to parade, show, pump, and compete in many
types of public activities each year. They have even appeared in
major motion pictures. But our favorite activity is the Fire Muster
which has become a celebration of firefighting, it's apparatus,
history and tradition.
Collecting
Many of our members collect fire
memorabilia, model fire apparatus, extinguishers, badges, patches,
firefighting photography, and just about anything connected with
firefighting. Anyone who is interested in firefighting apparatus and
history may join us. We also have Florida fire departments and
museums owning historically significant apparatus as members, but
you do not have to own apparatus to join. Our members come from all
walks of life.
SPAAMFAA
The Florida Antique Bucket Brigade is
one of many regional chapters of "The Society for the Preservation
and Appreciation of Antique Motor Fire Apparatus in America," or
SPAAMFAA, which is an educational and historical society founded in
1958. FABB, which was organized and chartered in 1977, brings
activities represented by SPAAMFAA to the state and local level.
Museums
We also promote local fire history and
fire museums by displaying historically significant club owned fire
antiques. FABB is a registered non-profit organization.
We are here to enjoy our hobby and
help others appreciate it.
