John & Susan Morris are owners of this 1925
Segrave Model 6WT, 750 gpm pumper served with the Tampa FD,
Tampa, Florida until 1952 when it was sold to a real estate
millionaire to water his orange groves, but that didn't work
out. Mike Morris was on vacation and didn't know it had been
sold. Luckily after about 10 years the 2nd owner of this rig
passed away and the family called Mike to see if he still
wanted it. This rig meant a lot to Mike as he watched it race to fires as a child. In 1952 he trained on this truck, as a rookie he went to his first fire and later as a relief driver, he drove it to his first alarm. His family has a long history with the TFD going back to the 1880's. His uncle, Andrew Harris, was the first Chief of Tampa FDA In Honor and Loving Memory to my father, Captain Michael J. Morris. This rig is now maintained and shown by his son, John L Morris and his wife Susan. |
